Iconoplasm EVOLVED is a 2026 series of AI-mutated image-to-video artefacts grown from Iain Ball’s original Iconoplasm × Live Trap documentation (2007–2008). Iconoplasm was one of his earliest experimental art systems: object and substance arrangements, assemblages, performances, and process interactions begun at Oxford Brookes University, including interventions in the Richard Hamilton Building and in liminal “non-spaces” across southern England, later developing into Live Trap iterations during his exchange at RMIT, Melbourne. The source images are dense with leaking fluids, wet specimens, sanitary ware, jars, roots, roses, clean-room costume, and electrical apparatus — abject ritual assemblages left to seep, pool, and contaminate institutional interiors. Selected stills were fed into AI image-to-video models that further mutate those residues, extending Ball’s systems-based practice as a continual, cyborgian process.
